Today I Learned . . .
The wines of Europe are not genuinely European anymore. A biologist brought some American vines back to England to study. He also brought with them a parasite the American vines were resistant to, but destroyed most of the vines of Europe. To re-built the European vineyards, American strains had to be grown, and then the distinct European vines had to be grafted into the now growing American vines.
