Today I Learned . . .

1.  Basketball's 3-point line was first proposed in 1933 by Herman Sayger to introduce a new scoring system for Ohio high school students.  It was implemented by various leagues after that but did not gain popular acceptance until employed by the American Basketball Association during their 1967-68 season as a way to market themselves against the NBA.
