1.  Basketball's 3-point line was first proposed in 1933 by Herman Sayger to introduce a new scoring system for Ohio high school students.  It was implemented by various leagues after that but did not gain popular acceptance until employed by the American Basketball Association during their 1967-68 season as a way to market themselves against the NBA.

Today I Learned . . .

1. What we know as 'khaki' originated in the region now known as Pakistan/Afghanistan by British-Indian forces. They wished to be clothed in clothes of the region. The original color chosen was a shade of grey, similar to that worn by Afghan tribals. But the grey dye wouldn't work in their leather coats. Instead mulberry juice was used, leading to the drab yellow color we know now as 'khaki'
