More hats (2012-07-22)
I just don't learn.
I got it in my head the other day at work that I should wear a Blue Jays cap during my weekly slo-pitch game. I have a Milwaukee Brewers have that I have been wearing, and there's nothing wrong with it. But it seemed . . . patriotic I guess . . . to wear a Toronto hat for slo-pitch.
I got the idea at work, but I didn't want to go searching online for it there. Then I didn't remember the idea again until later, so its about 10:30 at night when I'm searching online for this hat that I want. What's the one place that would have such a thing, and display it on a web store? Sportchek, right? So I check out what they have and there's this choice that seems perfect. Its an all blue hat and its only $16. Perfect, I'll go buy that.
I'll skip the details as you've probably surmised where this story is going. I visited every Sportchek in Saskatoon as well as the two other stores in Midtown Plaza that might have such a hat and was stymied. In addition I would like to say that while Sportchek has a nice, expansive website, the stores carry a pathetic representation of what is shown on the internet. Pathetic. So I didn't get my $16 hat.
Not only did I not get my $16 hat, I couldn't even find a Toronto Blue Jays hat that would fit me. They had plenty of the fitted hats, but not matched my head. Plus I didn't want a fitted hat because the purpose of this adventure was to get a "cheap" hat so I wouldn't get all angst-y about getting it dirty playing slo-pitch.
Moral of the story? Went to Olympian Sports, found an inexpensive (but not $16) hat, paid for it and went home in about 5 minutes. I could have spared myself all this exertion if I'd just followed the promise I made after my last hat excursion.
NOTE: I'm not certain but I think the girl that helped me find the hat plays on my soccer team and I completely missed this fact until I was leaving the story.
