Today I Learned . . .
Chicken nuggets were invented in the 1950's by Robert C. Baker, a food scientist at Cornell University. Chicken nuggets are, in their general formulation, less than half skeletal muscle and a combination of remainder products and a significant portion of fat. While invented in the 1950's, chicken nuggets did not achieve prominence until a recipe was commissioned by McDonalds in 1979 from Tyson Food and when it became a McDonalds product starting in 1980.
