The Daily Affirmation (2013-02-07)
The Daily Affirmation
Seven in the morning and I'm sitting in the hot tub. They actually opened the poolside room doors at 5 AM but I'm probably the only person that knows that. A few minutes before the "official" pool opening I go down to soak out the pounding sinus headache in my head. I'm looking up at the stairs and this little boy, maybe 4 years old, bounds out the door to his room, mom in tow. He's so excited. I'm sure he's been bouncing around for ages, begging his mom to let him go swimming. The little boy doesn't get to stay long. Its too early for his mom, clearly, but gamely she takes the little guy to the pool. He's so excited and the whole experience has him vibrating with joy. To witness that moment of bliss in the goggled eyes of a boy so young and untouched by the spoils of the world was a moment of reclamation after a sleepless night.

Despite the mounds of snow, slippery conditions and disappearing time, I re-positioned my vehicle in the stall when I realized I was parking to close to the truck next to me.
Rather than write an email response to a plaintive cry, I instead called the person that wrote the message.

When the first attempt to boot up Sean's hard drive, and all seemed lost, I didn't give up. I dug out a second hard drive interface and managed to get his drive accessible. All files were transferred and the day saved.

Today, in order to be used in a National Football League game, a football must meet the following requirements: It shall consist of a urethane bladder inflated to 12.5 to 13.5 pounds and enclosed in a pebble grained, tan leather outer shell designed to provide a good grip – even in the rain. The ball must be 11-11.25 inches long, have a long circumference between 28- 28.5 inches, a short circumference between 21-21.25 inches; and it must weigh 14 to 15 ounces. The variation in the measurements is due to the fact that all NFL footballs are made by hand. Since 1955 every NFL football has been made at Wilson’s 130-person factory in Ada, Ohio, which produces up to 4,000 footballs a day.
