Today I Learned . . . (2012-02-02)

Today I Learned . . .

The wines of Europe are not genuinely European anymore.  A biologist brought some American vines back to England to study.  He also brought with them a parasite the American vines were resistant to, but destroyed most of the vines of Europe.  To re-built the European vineyards, American strains had to be grown, and then the distinct European vines had to be grafted into the now growing American vines.
